Kickin’ It with Kiz: What’s biggest difference between Drew Lock and Tom Brady, other than seven Super Bowl rings? - The Denver Post

My guess is when times get tough for Drew Lock, he will scramble to his right and launch a hope, more times than not. He simply does not know how to maneuver in the pocket to find weak spots in the pass rush and keep his eyes downfield.

Kiz: In an internet chock full o’ nuts, you sometimes find a true gem, which explains why I keep going down the rabbit hole of social media: Kudos to you A.J., for delivering pearls of wisdom that describe Lock in a nutshell. His big arm talent is undeniable. But he’s also cursed with next-to-zero pocket presence. That combination too often results in swagger morphing into panic. What’s the biggest difference between Tom Brady and Lock, other than seven Super Bowl rings? How Brady can find a whiff of breathing room in a collapsing pocket is a subtly beautiful art. Can Lock crib notes from the master and learn helter-skelter scrambling at the first sign of trouble is not the answer? His future as an NFL starter depends on it.

If the Broncos had a real talent at quarterback, like the one we totally whiffed on, this QB controversy wouldn’t be an issue.  It’s only because we’re trying to choose between mediocre and meh that it’s an issue.

M.D., passionately apathetic

Kiz: When you talk about the QB that got away from Broncos, did you mean Justin Fields? Josh Allen? Dak Prescott? Or Russell Wilson? John Elway did some really good work in the draft, but Denver has missed the playoffs five straight years because he consistently whiffed on the most important position in football.

You’re the ultimate second-guesser, Kiszla. Get too much credit for sitting on your rump and running your mouth! Have no skin in the game.

John, man of action

Kiz: It’s true. I possess no discernible athletic skills, other than the ability to type 65 words per minute. But isn’t second-guessing the real national pastime, whether we’re talking politics or football?

Kiz, you wrote everything I have been telling everyone since Denver bypassed Fields in the NFL draft. Unbelievable! I am 98 years old and have been a Broncos fan since 1968. My favorite college team is the Ohio State Buckeyes. I watch all their games and knew Fields is a great quarterback. I was praying he would still be available with the ninth pick in the first round. When he was, I was deliriously happy … then incredulous when the Broncos didn’t take Fields. I practically screamed with joy when I read your column agreeing with me!

Vicki, knows the game

Kiz: Without a doubt, I could learn a thing or two about Broncos history and football strategy from you. Maybe we should go to a game together. I’ll buy the tickets, if you buy the beer. Deal?

And today’s parting shot is a friendly suggestion to turn in my press credential and replace it with a clown nose.

Keep writing these articles about the Broncos quarterbacks. And keep the clown suit on, Kiz. Let us know what McDonald’s you are working for birthday parties.

S.S., cheeseburgler
