Utah Valley University’s Woodbury School of Business and the Noorda College of Osteopathic Medicine have formed a partnership to provide students with a healthcare administration concentration as a part of UVU’s Master of Business Administration program.
This partnership between the two schools will offer a combined Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree and MBA and, according to a press release distributed by UVU, this will provide students with an advantage in the healthcare market during a time of rapid change and development within the industry.
“The partnership between UVU’s Woodbury School of Business and the Noorda College of Osteopathic Medicine marries two highly innovative institutions of higher education to the benefit of students and the local healthcare industry,” Norman Wright, dean of Woodbury, said in a press release. “Students armed with this credential will make an important difference in the practice of medicine at a time when the market dynamics of the industry are undergoing significant change.”
This program will be available to students who are enrolled in Noorda-COM who meet certain requirements. These students will be able to start the program after their initial year of medical school. They will then graduate with an MBA and medical degree.
“This dual degree program is a significant offering that will greatly enhance our students’ professional abilities,” John Dougherty, Noorda-COM founding dean and chief academic officer, said in a press release. “Not only will they be well educated in how to provide medical services, but they will also learn the important aspects of navigating the business aspects of medicine regardless of whether they are in private practice or an established healthcare system.”
The Noorda College of Osteopathic Medicine, located in Provo, was founded in July 2019 and welcomed its inaugural class in the fall of 2021. It offers Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degrees.
The Woodbury School of Business is located at UVU’s main campus in Orem. According to its website, the Woodbury School of Business is the largest business school in Utah with over 5,000 students. The school offers three different master’s degree programs, 20 bachelor’s degree programs, five associate’s degree programs, and 6 certificate programs.
