A wildfire forced authorities to shut down Interstate 70 Sunday afternoon between Eagle and Gypsum. Westbound I-70 was reopened at Eagle at 5:36 p.m., according to the Colorado State Patrol in Eagle, but the eastbound lanes remain closed.
The interstate was closed in both directions around 4 p.m. because strong winds were pushing the a newly started wildfire east along the highway, and authorities were seeing erratic fire behavior, according to Colorado State Patrol in Eagle.
It was not immediately clear how long the shutdown would last for.
