The Moore Catholic-Xaverian varsity softball match-up is now set in stone.
The Mavericks and Clippers, Staten Island and Brooklyn’s top seeds, respectively, will lock horns in a CHSAA Top Tier semifinal Monday at Staten Island Little League’s Dongan Hills complex, the Advance/SILive.com has learned.
The game is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
The winner of Monday’s game will advance to the city title game, which will be played at Rocco Torre Softball Complex in Brooklyn at a date and time to be determined.
The 14-1 Mavericks, who have already clinched their fifth straight CHSAA Staten Island division crown, won the Archdiocesan championship three seasons in a row between 2017-19.
There was no softball season, of course, a year ago because of the pandemic and although the CHSAA playoff format is slightly different this year, the Mavs are hoping to add another title to its recent string of success.
Monday’s contest between is highly anticipated match-up between Moore’s Jordan Felci and Xaverian’s Kelly Baker — two of the best hurlers in the league.
