Syracuse, N.Y. — Syracuse heated up Sunday, but was just one degree shy of matching the hottest June 27 in the city’s history.
Temperatures reached 94 degrees at 5:54 p.m.
The record high temperature for June 27 in Syracuse remains 95 degrees, set in 1941 and again in 1999, according to the National Weather Service.
One other time, on June 27, 1969, temperatures reached 94 degrees in Syracuse.
The heat wave is expected to continue, as the weather service has issued a heat advisory from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday for much of Central New York.
Temperatures are expected to reach up to 95 degrees on Monday. With the humidity, it could feel even warmer, possibly up to 100 degrees.
In the weather service’s advisory, meteorologists suggest drinking “plenty of water, wear loose lightweight clothes and take plenty of breaks if outside” as temperatures and humidity climb.
