The Memphis Grizzlies and Utah Jazz are set to do battle this evening at 9pm CT after the Grizzlies were able to steal Game 1 in Utah 112-109. Game 2 will undoubtedly look much different than the series opener for multiple reasons, but there are a few attractive angles for those looking to place bets on the game.

The Utah Jazz swept the regular season series winning all three matchups with Memphis. The Jazz’s strengths all season long have been in their defense and three-point shooting. Utah led the league in three-point field goals, converting on 38.9% from beyond the arc.

However, that was not the case in Game 1 as Utah connected on just 12-of-47 from deep in an uncharacteristically poor shooting performance. Guards Mike Conley and Jordan Clarkson combined for a measly 3-19 from the three-point line in Sunday’s loss.

The Grizzlies will have their hands full out on the perimeter this evening as Jazz star Donovan Mitchell returns to the starting lineup for the first time since April. Mitchell’s ability to get to the rim is reason enough for Memphis to pack it in the paint, but if the Grizzlies concentrate their defensive efforts into stopping penetration from Mitchell, there will be plenty of opportunities for Utah’s supporting cast.

Conley is poised to benefit most from Mitchell’s return. With the Grizzlies’ defensive attention shifting to Mitchell, Conley should be able to find more open looks on the perimeter in Game 2. Conley excelled from three-point range this season, shooting at a clip of 41.2%. Much of Conley’s success can be traced back to Mitchell’s ability to suck the defense in and find an open shooter on the outside.

Conley’s minutes should not be affected all that much especially since the Jazz might elect to work Mitchell back in slowly. Look for Conley to have a bounce-back performance against his former team. This bet can be found online at DraftKings Sportsbook.

Expect a barrage of points early on in tonight’s Game 2. The Jazz will be feeding off the raucous crowd in Utah, who will undoubtedly be amped for the return of Mitchell. Utah’s offense will be transformed with Mitchell (26.4 PPG) back at the helm facilitating the offense tonight.

While the Jazz should get the scoring started tonight, now is not the time to sleep on Memphis’ offense.

Brooks paced the Grizzlies with 31 points in Game 1 while Ja Morant followed up with a 26-point effort in the pair’s postseason debuts.

Even behind such strong offensive outputs, the Grizzlies managed just 7-20 from three in the win. Memphis is by no means a team that relies upon the three, but 20 attempts is substantially less than their regular season average of 31 attempts per game.

The Grizzlies were also unable to get Jaren Jackson Jr. going in Game 1. Jackson Jr. finished with just seven points on 2-8 (1-5) from the field. Head coach Taylor Jenkins will no doubt turn to his 6-foot-11 matchup nightmare with increased attention on Morant.

It should be noted that the OVER is 3-1 in the four meetings between these two teams this season.
