HOUSTON – A fire is burning between the Splendora and Cleveland areas Monday, KPRC 2 has learned.
The Montgomery County Fire Marshal said it is unclear how large the fire is, but says he believes they can get a handle on it after issues with wind yesterday.
Firefighters from Montgomery, Liberty and San Jacinto counties are fighting the fire as well as units from the Texas A&M Forest Service, according to the Montgomery County Fire Marshal.
Around 200 acres have burned so far and there is currently a defensive posture in fighting the fire.
There are evacuations from individual homes, but there are no mass evacuations at this time. The Liberty County Sheriff Office is notifying individual homeowners if they need to evacuate.
There’s no word yet on how it started.
Firefighters are bringing water in by tankers and boosters to douse the flames in the rural area.
