TROY — Walsh has ranked no. 2 on the list of Top 20 Master’s in Information Technology programs by CyberSecurityMastersDegree.org. Other schools on the list included Carnegie Mellon, Virginia Tech and Illinois Institute of Technology. Schools were ranked based on course offerings, small faculty to student ratio, resources, overall value, student reviews and third-party recognition.
Walsh was one of the first schools in Michigan to be recognized as a Center for Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense and was the first school in the nation to offer a degree concentration in automotive cybersecurity. Its information technology degrees align with Department of Defense and Department of Homeland Security NICE Framework Standards.
“Walsh’s IT curriculum is developed according to a Tradecraft model, with labs, assignments and coursework built to connect the dots and enable the critical thinking skills employers are looking for,” said Dave Schippers, DSc, CISSP, chair and assistant professor, IT/Decisions Sciences.
Walsh was an early adopter of online education, offering its first online course in 1998. The MSIT has also been ranked one of the Best Online Programs for a Master’s in Network Security and one of the Best Online Cybersecurity Master’s Degree Programs. Walsh’s online programs provide the same curriculum as on-ground programs and are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs and the Higher Learning Commission.
