DEVOTIONAL GUIDE: The day between - Park Rapids Enterprise

Maybe you have experienced a kind of a “day between” in your life. A loved one has died and the world seems empty and hopeless. Maybe it was a business failure or a job loss, or a broken marriage or other relationship. Maybe it was a child that rebelled or bitterly rejected you. For some of us that day in-between can be a long time, even years.

Many years ago, I heard Tony Campolo speak about a preacher who gave a message, “It’s Friday, but Sunday is coming.” He was talking about how dark and hopeless it seemed on Friday, but there is a resurrection coming on Sunday.

In fact, the resurrection victory and glory could not have come if it were not for the death and burial on Friday.

Maybe something inside of you has to die before there will be a resurrection for your situation. Perhaps you must surrender something to God before He can breathe life into it.

Sunday came, the tomb was empty, and Jesus showed up in that locked room very much alive. The disciples saw the nail prints in His hands and the scar in His side. They felt the presence of the risen Christ.

Those on the road to Emmaus felt His presence before they recognized Him physically. Jesus lives now; He walks with us and talks with us along this narrow way. Do you know His presence?

I am so glad to live in the post-resurrection time of history. No matter what dark day I might be experiencing, I know that there is a resurrection coming. If it was a loved one who left us too soon, we can know there is a resurrection coming.

Jesus was God and man. As a man, He went through that valley of death and came out the other side.

If some tragedy looks like it is the end of the world, know this: It is not the end. There is a resurrection coming. It may come as an answer to your prayer in this world or it may come as we see Jesus in heaven, but there is going to be a resurrection.

The darkness you feel right now may only be the day in between. Keep believing. God is the God of resurrections.

“Jesus said to her, I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies, and everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die. Do you believe this?” (John 11:25-26).

Jesus made it clear, eternal life is found only in believing in Him. The resurrection to eternal life with Christ is for those who received Him in this world. Do you believe this?
