CENTER TWP – Community College of Beaver County’s associate degree nursing program has earned reaccreditation for eight years from the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing.
ACEN is an accrediting body by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE) and by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.
CCBC’s associate degree nursing program has achieved a 96 percent pass rate on the NCLEX Exam in 2019, and was named No. 5 on the list of Best Nursing Schools in the Nation for an associate’s degree program by www.nursingprocess.org. The program will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2021.
The reaccreditation process rigorously reviews the nursing program to ensure that it meets or exceeds standards set by the program, college, state and governing body, Elaine Strouss, CCBC’s dean of the School of Health Sciences, said.
“Receiving reaccreditation validates our efforts to ensure each individual who completes the nursing program is ready for the workforce,” she said.
CCBC graduates may use the associate degree program as a stepping stone to pursue a bachelor of science degree in nursing at CCBC.
CCBC’s majors in the School of Health Sciences include practical nursing, health sciences, phlebotomy and radiologic technology.
