This year it can be easy to forget for a moment that there are aspects of baseball that are dangerous regardless of the pandemic. Outfielder Gregory Polanco and first baseman Phillip Evans, who spent last year at AAA in the Cubs organization, were trying to track down a Miguel Cabrera foul ball when Polanco’s elbow cracked into Evans’ jaw:
Scary moment here in the 6th as Phillip Evans is taken off the field on a stretcher following a collision in foul territory.
We will keep you updated as we receive any information.

Please pray if that’s your thing. @Pirates 1B Phillip Evans collided with OF Gregory Polanco. Evans took a nasty blow. The Pirates medical team has stabilized and transported Evans to be evaluated. A scary scene in Pittsburgh. #LetsGoBucs pic.twitter.com/dhSwa8ERY2

Hoping Evans is going to be OK, and these efforts were just a matter of being extremely cautious.
